The Rough Riders are looking for a measure of revenge when they take on the Richmond Kickers for the second time this season. Long Island traveled down to Richmond on May 6th, only to have the game decided in the first 11 minutes when starting keeper Eric Masters received a straight red-card for a hand-ball outside the 18 yard box. Down a man, and without a regular second keeper available, the Rough Riders were forced to put forward Moussa Sy in goal for the remainder of the game. Down only 1-0 at the half, the Rough Riders eventually succumbed to Richmond's man advantage losing the game 5-0.

Long Island is coming off of mixed results recently. The team hosted El Salvadorian 1st Division Champions "Vista Hermosa" on May 10th. Before a raucous crowd, Long Island gave up a first half goal, but the Rough Riders came back to tie the game late in the second half. The "friendly match" was decided by penalty kicks, with Vista Hermosa winning the PKs 4-2. The team is returning to Long Island after a disappointing loss this past weekend in New Hampshire, losing to the Phantoms 3-1.

Richmond, finalists last year in the USL 1st Division Championship, since facing Long Island have gone on to win 3 more in a row - defeating the Charlotte Eagles 4-2, Harrisburg City Islanders 5-2 and Pittsburgh Riverhounds 1-0.

The Long Island Rough Riders, members of the United Soccer Leagues (USL) 2nd Division, play a 20-game regular season schedule.
