Dear Long Islander,

We wave goodbye to March this weekend and enter April, which many locals will hope will finally bring some reprieve to the winter weather conditions Long Island has suffered through during the month of March. This Sunday is also Easter, which many are celebrating in a variety of ways - from festive Easter Egg Hunts, to brunch with friends and family, Long Islanders are taking this weekend as an opportunity to celebrate the holiday, and to celebrate the coming of Spring. Whether or not you're celebrating the holiday - there is plenty to do from special events to bird watching, and everything in between.
Mahanaim Easter Cantata
Celebrate Easter with the Gracias Choir this Weekend!
Gracias Choir has returned to Huntington for its 2nd annual Gracias Easter Cantata! This original stage production features world-class music and a message that will change your life. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”(John 15:13) Witness the suffering, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Already portrayed in film and stage plays, it’s time to let the music of Gracias Choir take you on the journey of love that led Christ to the cross and brought Him back to life. Be there when He rises. Come experience Gracias Easter Cantata.

Hot Off the Presses
Kings Park Psych Center Smoke Tower Imploded
Hundreds Turned Out to See the Iconic KP Landmark Demolished
Building 29.1, the smoke stack of the Kings Park Psychiatric Center, was brought down today. Many local residents came to a designated safe viewing area on hospital grounds to watch as the tower collapsed. The implosion removed only one of many buildings which have been the subject of great debate for the town ever since institute was shut down in the mid 90’s. Removing structures from the site has been complicated by the health risks posed by potentially releasing the large quantities of asbestos used in constructing those buildings, but even accounting for the cost of containing the harmful substances cannot build consensus on what to do with the land.
