It’s the last weekend before we kick start May! Enjoy a variety of family fun events as well as performances on Long Island. Some of the family and kid-friendly events coming up include Arbor Day Family Festival at Planting Fields Arboretum, the Merrick Chamber of Commerce Kids Fest, a Tree-Mendous Celebration at Old Westbury Gardens and the 22nd Annual Merrick Spring Festival. Other entertainment happening this weekend includes gator feeding at Jungle Bob’s Reptile World, performances by The Seven Band at Sunset Grill and Us and Floyd, the tribute band at Changing Times Pub, the musical performance Anything Goes at CM Performing Arts Center and kayak test drives with The Dinghy Shop. FRIDAY – APRIL 26, 2013

Who: Gator Feeding At Jungle Bob’s Reptile World
Info: Here’s your chance to sit in as a live audience watching alligators eat dinner. You’ll also have the chance to learn about the animals. This event is not suitable for the squeamish and may be inappropriate for children.
Cost: $5

Who: The Seven Band Live Music, Rock and Roll and Dance At Sunset Grill
Info: Come on over to enjoy a night of classic rock and roll and blues tunes from the late 60’s to today from the Seven Band.
Cost: $5 Admission

Who: Us And Floyd Tribute Band Live at Changing Times Pub
Info: Enjoy the greatest hits of Pink Floyd from the tribute band Us and Floyd. The nice long show will cover many songs.
Cost: $5 Admission

SATURDAY – APRIL 27, 2013

Who: Arbor Day Family Festival At Planting Fields Arboretum
Info: Enjoy a fun festival for the entire family complete with canine comedy performances, kids tree climbing, face painting, a petting zoo, plant clinics, tree planting with Smokey the Bear and a visit to Coe Hall and the new exhibition. The festival is a collaborative effort between Planting Fields Foundation and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
Cost: $20 Per Car

Who: Anything Goes, The Musical At CM Performing Arts Center
Info: In this hysterical musical, there’ll be misadventures as the S.S. American heads out to sea. Two unlikely pairs of passengers set off on the course to true love. The performance includes “I Get A Kick Out of You,” “It’s De-lovely,” “You’re The Top” and “Anything Goes.” This is its opening night, so you’ll get to walk the red carpet.
Cost: $25, $18 For Students

Who: Merrick Chamber of Commerce Kids Fest
Info: This fest continues to run until April 28. Come out to enjoy fun rides and great food for the entire family.
Cost: Free Event, Pay Per Ride
Time & Place: 11AM to 10PM at Merrick Train Station, at Sunrise Highway between Hewlett and Merrick avenues, Merrick

SUNDAY – APRIL 28, 2013

Who: Kayak Test Drive Weekend With The Dinghy Shop
Info: This is your chance to try out about 60 different kayaks on the beach along with free water demos. There will be a range of kayaks, including sit on tops and the Carbon Kevlar touring kayaks.

Who: A Tree-Mendous Celebration At Old Westbury Gardens
Info: This kids and family program covers the basics of tree biology, how trees influence our everyday lives, crafts, plant giveaways and more. Old Westbury Gardens is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Cost: Free With Admission, $8 For Adults, $5 For Seniors, $3 For Children 7 to 17 Years

Who: 22nd Annual Merrick Spring Festival
Info: This annual family event allows you to interact and buy direct from the source for high quality crafts, gifts and more. It will include emerging and established artisans.
