Welcome to the first installment of Minority Owned Business Development. My name is Luis and I invite you to participate and help drive the direction and topics covered in this column. My articles will focus on business development, marketing, sales and customer care topics relevant to established and emerging minority owned businesses. I will be concentrating on the Hispanic, African-American and Asian business communities but welcome communication from any and all of the minority business communities on Long Island. Along the way I'll address issues related to strategic planning, government and private resources available to minority and women owned businesses, also known as MWOB. I'll also address your questions and concerns about running a business on LI.

What are the best practices in your industry?
