St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children and The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA), is continuing its partnership as Belmont Park will host St. Mary's signature and grassroots events that help raise funds & awareness for children and families with special needs.

The 7th Annual Walk for St. Mary's Kids & Family Fun Day will be held at Belmont Park on Sunday, May 22, 2011 for the third year, and St. Mary's Jockey & Horseman's Ball, a first time event honoring NYRA jockey Ramon Dominguez will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2011.

The unique partnership between St. Mary's and NYRA has been bringing the region's leading provider of post-acute care for children together with the region's most famous racetracks to support vital programs and services for some of New York's most seriously ill and injured children.

The Annual Walk unites staff, patients, friends, families and the community to support St. Mary's mission- to improve the health and quality of life for children and families with special needs. Walkers will enjoy a 1/2 mile and 2.5 mile route followed by family fun day activities including The New York AutoFest Car Show, Rick Caran and Team Jilli Dog- the World's only poker-playing dog, games, face painting, live entertainment, and lots of surprises for the entire family including Pirate Day by Belmont Park.

St. Mary's Jockey & Horseman's Ball will honor Ramon Dominguez for his commitment to St. Mary's children & families. Ramon picked up his signature win of the 2010 season at Belmont Park in the Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes and was also recently honored with his first Eclipse Award for outstanding jockey. Ramon met St. Mary's kids in the Winners Circle at Aqueduct and since then, has been a true champion for St. Mary's kids.

"NYRA is thrilled to be a partner in St. Mary's Annual Walk and the Jockey & Horseman's Ball and to support these great events by hosting them at beautiful, historic Belmont Park," said NYRA President & CEO Charlie Hayward "In my visits to St Mary's, it has been exhilarating to see what the St Mary's staff and professionals do for these children from our metropolitan area, who are so deserving and so in need of all our help."
