Suffolk County Police To Hold Graduation For More Than 100 New Officers

Suffolk County, NY - April 12, 2017 - Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Timothy D. Sini and Suffolk County Police Chief of Department Stuart Cameron will preside over the graduation of more than 100 new officers at a ceremony at the Suffolk County Police Academy on Wednesday, April 12 at 11 a.m.
 
The recruits have completed 29 weeks of academy training and have received more than 1000 hours of instruction on topics including law, emergency medical training, defensive tactics, domestic violence, mental illness, cultural diversity, emergency driving, firearms and terrorism.
 
Of the 114 new Suffolk County Police officers, 33% percent have previous law enforcement experience, 66% possess at least a two-year degree while 10 are military veterans and a dozen are fluent Spanish speakers.
 
Three East Hampton Town Police and one Westhampton Beach Village Police recruits will also graduate.
 
Last month, 59 recruits graduated from the academy for a total of 173 new officers added to the county police department’s ranks.
