Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. Those are all the things that a bride is supposed to have on them when they walk down the aisle on their wedding day. It is the job of the family of the bride as well as the bridal party to make sure that the bride is not lacking any of these crucial elements that will complete her day. But what can you give a bride that is not only beautiful but also sentimental? There are a number of ways that you can go about finding the perfect things to gift to the bride, check out some of these ideas to get you started!

Something Old: Something old traditionally represents the continuity of the past while moving into the future. The family of the bride should usually take care of this by gifting some kind of heirloom or antique to the lucky lady. A classic thing to do id to take some old or vintage ribbon and lacing it through the bouquet. You can also take some heirloom jewelry such as a wedding band, necklace, or hairpins and gift them to the bride to wear on the big day. Other ideas include taking a vintage card to the wedding, having your wedding at any of Long Island’s historic sites, or display pictures of the couple as children at the wedding.

Something New: Something new represents your optimism for the future and the future of the couple. This is probably the easiest of the things that you have to get the bride. You can gift her new makeup that she can wear on the big day or at least a tube of a stand out shade of lipstick. The jewelry for the day can also be gifted as something new for the day. A new guestbook is also a great idea for the wedding so that all of the guests can write their well wishes. Lingerie is also a wonderful idea, giving the bride her new pair of garters or silk stockings will be sure to make her day!

Something Borrowed: Something borrowed is there to represent happiness and should be something given from the parents of the bride or another happily married couple. You can borrow a song from your parents wedding to dance to or to use for your own first dance and even borrow your mother’s wedding shoes to dance it. You can even take a picture of your parents and shrink it down to a tiny frame and sew it inside your bouquet. Other popular ideas include borrowing your mother or grandmother’s dress, veil, or jewelry from their own wedding day. You can also borrow a "lucky penny" or sixpence that another bride wore in her shoe on her wedding day. Just make sure you give everything back, it is borrowed!

Something Blue: Something blue represents love, good fortune, and fidelity. There are endless ways that you can incorporate this into your own wedding day. You can have the whole wedding blue themed if you want to go that for or just add blue accents. The wedding cake can have blue flowers covering it or you can include blue flowers in your bouquet. Some brides will wear blue shoes on the day of the wedding or include a piece of blue jewelry in their ensemble. Having a blue sash across the dress or a blue hairpin in your updo is another wonderful way to put blue in your wedding!
