Planning a wedding can be an extremely stressful time and nothing can be planned without figuring out the theme first! If you’re stuck on deciding a good theme for your big day, you can’t go wrong with an elegant vintage setting.

Vintage themed weddings will hardly ever go out of style because of the beautiful and graceful décor used, making it ideal for a stylish wedding. Another plus is that you can add your own personal touch to things while planning. Preparing for your big day can get pretty expensive so these ideas are quite simple to make on your own and the materials needed won’t hurt your wallet too much.

Invitations
Your invitations are what start out the whole wedding process! They are the first things your guests see, and they should be designed to represent your theme. Stick to using neutral colors or light colors for a fresh feeling. Use lace to wrap the invitation so when your guests open the envelope, they must un-tie the lace opening to get to the invitation. The lace theme is huge for vintage weddings, so these invitations will be the perfect start to your special day!

Centerpieces
When it comes to your table centerpieces, it is a great idea to incorporate the lace theme here as well. A fun idea is to use mason jars, which have become extremely popular, and wrap the outside of them in lace and burlap. You can wrap the entire outside so that the jar is covered or you can do just the middle, leaving room to see the inside. This depends on if you’re interested in putting anything inside the jar, such as a candle to light up the tables. You can also add some flowers to match the colors of your wedding.

A Place for the Cards
The perfect spot for cards is an important addition to your wedding. Instead of having everyone place them on a table or inside a bag, use an old suitcase for a shabby chic feel. Decorate the inside with fake neutral colored flowers, lace, and burlap. Along the top part of the suitcase, hang letter cards to spell out “CARDS” so your guests know exactly where to put theirs!

Seating Cards
Instead of using simple cards to display guests’ names, attach a small card to an old fashioned key. Choose gold or silver depending on which matches your colors best. Use a ribbon to attach the card to the key and voila! You have an old fashioned key seating card! This unique idea will absolutely be a detail your guests won’t forget.

The Dress & Accessories
This idea is up to the bride if she wants to incorporate the theme into her dress as well. To completely go all out, choose a classic, old school styled gown along with some pearls to set it off perfectly. A gorgeous choice for a classic hairstyle is to wear your hair down and put large waves all throughout. If your hair is short or you prefer to wear an up-do, choose a style that goes off to the side a bit and add an elegant pin or even some lace to top it off.

Vintage Wedding Cake
The perfect vintage wedding cake symbolizes classiness and grace! Add beautiful décor to your wedding cake by using pearls, diamonds, lace, burlap or flowers. Keep it simple by just using pearls and lace with a flower or two.  The cake is an item you can make as uncomplicated as you’d like or you can go over the top with it by adding ruffles into the layers.

The Getaway Car
Instead of driving off in the traditional limousine, drive away in an old, classic car. Choose one that best fits yours and the groom’s personality. Don’t forget to add the cans to the back of the car, each personalized with fun loving sayings such as, “Just Married,” “Love,” “Forever,” and the date of your wedding. Paint the cans in neutral colors or add a hint of color with some light pink, light blue or yellow.

Your vintage style wedding will surely be a memorable and entertaining evening with these wonderful, classic ideas!
