LI’s Adorable Adoptable Pets: Meet Gus, Max, and Louie
Meet a trio of friendly black kittens from Last Chance Animal Rescue who have been overlooked for the past several months.
This week we are featuring three black kittens from Last Chance Animal Rescue who have been overlooked by no fault of their own.
Gus, Max, and Louie are black domestic short hair kittens that have each been with LCAR for 7 to 9 months since they were young kittens of just 4 months old. These three young boys are good natured, playful, and quick to share affection. They are also litter trained, so they are ready to be adopted and go right to a new forever home.
LCAR staff believe that these three cats have fallen victim to the black cat prejudice, as many black-haired cats and dogs are passed over at shelters by families looking to adopt a new pet. There is also the superstition that if a black cat crosses your path, you will be plagued with bad luck, as well as other folklore that makes it harder for black cats and black dogs to find homes. Black beauties such as Gus, Max, and Louie have the lowest adoption rates in shelters, but they still have as much love to give as any other kitten.
Each cat is altered, up-to-date with all of their routine shots, FIV/Feline HIV and FeLV/Feline Leukemia Negative. Gus, Max, and Louie are all good with other cats.
Last Chance Animal Rescue is a volunteer-based not-for-profit organization located out of Southampton which rescues animals from “kill” facilities – many of which are rural shelters in southern states – and underwrites the costs of relocating them to “no-kill” facilities and foster homes with the goal of adopting them into a forever family.
