It's Tee-off Time! With spring officially starting on Monday, March 20th, 2006, Long Islanders gathered at the Suffolk County Community College Sports and Exhibition Complex, (Brentwood Campus) for the Long Island Golf Expo 2006. This popular event is presented by the promoters of Long Island's Largest Home Shows. According to the people who run this event, "Long Island has 130 Golf Courses and over 400,000 golfers." Golf enthusiasts gathered to shop around for some great bargains and to check out what is new this season. Perhaps the Golf Expo is where you might find a new set of clubs or a new golf bag; the one you've been dreaming of all winter long. Lots of golf accessories at great prices too; hats, gloves, sunglasses, and plenty more. Representatives from many Long Island Golf organizations were present. Here are just a few:

The Long Island Golf Association's pamphlet reads, "Are you good enough to play with Us?" This organization, established in 1922, has been running golf tournaments all over Long Island for professionals as well as low and high handicap amateurs, for men, woman, seniors and juniors.

Check out the Long Island Golf Association website for the 2006 Tournament schedule at

and the

for golf outings, tournaments and events.

The Academy of Golf at Indian Island CC was also present. This organization has a variety of programs for private lessons, playing lessons, Adult beginner clinics, Junior Golf Camps, and private player development programs.

Also, it was great to see the Executive Women's Golf Association there. Their 7th Annual Tee-Off Dinner is this Monday, March 20th at the Crest Hollow Country Club. This organization is a not-for-profit organization and according to their literature," formed in 1991 to provide opportunities for woman to learn, play and enjoy the game of golf for business and for life." Sounds like a great idea! I am looking forward to going to one of their coming events and will report soon.

So, whether you're a golf aficionado or thinking of becoming one, visit the Golf Expo. It will run Sunday March 19 from 10AM-5PM.
