Huntington Chamber Chairman to be Honored as 'Citizen of the Year'

Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce Chairman Robert Bontempi will be honored as "Citizen of the Year" at the 24th Annual Spring Celebration for William Naughton, Superintendent of Highways.

Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce Chairman Robert Bontempi will be honored as "Citizen of the Year" at the 24th Annual Spring Celebration for William Naughton, Superintendent of Highways. The event will take place on Thursday, April 7 at Larkfield Manor in East Northport from 6 to 9 p.m. The reception will include cocktails and a buffet.

"We selected Bob Bontempi based on his involvement and the abundance of programs and support he has initiated for the local Huntington community," explained William Naughton. "His leadership and dedication to Huntington is well respected thus making him a worthy honoree as our 'Citizen of the Year,'" he continued.

Bontempi has an extensive track record of accomplishments which include serving as an active leader both within the Town of Huntington as well as on Long Island for more than 20 years. He is known for his commitment to community, his passion for Long Island and his effective solutions to complex local issues.

In his role as Chairman of the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce, he has focused his leadership on establishing the Chamber as an effective and efficient catalyst to support local business and the community. He has been instrumental in advocating for effective governmental policies; enacting strategies to encourage positive change during a challenging economic climate; and developing strong, effective, proactive and positive partnerships with elected officials, corporations, and others to support growth and sustainability for local business owners. He also is well known as one of the founders and strong advocates for the award-winning "It Starts Here: Buy Local" campaign - a grassroots business development program supporting local merchants within a community.

Bontempi is currently a District Sales Manager for Bristol-Myers Squibb where he has served in several capacities including sales management and corporate sales training.
