To help meet the growing demand of older New Yorkers and Long Islanders who want to remain in their own homes and stay as self-sufficient as possible, Seniors Helping Seniors In-Home Services (SHS) has granted a master license to establish franchise partners throughout several New York boroughs and Long Island. Seniors Helping Seniors started in 1998 with a simple concept that seniors can help each other age better and that those who give and those who receive equally benefit. As an innovative, intra-generational companion services that functions exclusively with and for seniors, we provide:

The master license was granted to Reema Nirola, Farmingdale, N.Y., and is supported by Katherine Munnelly, Kings Park, N.Y. They will cover Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island, as well as Nassau, Suffolk, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Westchester counties. Seniors Helping Seniors is a national caregiver organization that matches seniors who need in-home care services with seniors who provide them. "We were immediately drawn to the possibilities of a Seniors Helping Seniors franchise when we first heard about it. Both Katherine and I not only felt that this was a wonderful opportunity for us to apply our experience and support our strong feelings about helping older Americans to remain independent and in their own homes," said Nirola. That first non-profit organization today encompasses more than 250 senior providers helping more than 600 senior receivers. In 2006, Seniors Helping Seniors provided nearly 13,000 hours of service.
