The Suffolk County Police Department has issued a Silver Alert for a missing Smithtown woman possibly suffering from dementia.

Update - February 19, 2015 - Thi Chau has been located and is uninjured.

Smithtown, NY - February 16, 2015 - The Suffolk County Police Department has issued a Silver Alert for a missing Smithtown woman possibly suffering from dementia.

Thi Chau, 69 , was last seen on leaving her daughter's house, located at 1 Grandview Lane, Smithtown, at approximately 7p.m. Chau left the house on foot and was last seen walking toward the street. Chau, who has spent extended periods of time in New York City homeless shelters, may have gotten a ride to the Central Islip train station.

She is described as an Asian female, 5 feet 2 inches tall, 135 pounds and has several missing teeth.  She speaks very little English and is fluent in Chinese. She was last seen wearing a dark green jacket, black pants and dark sneakers.

Anyone with information about her location is requested to call 911 or Fourth Squad Detectives at 631-854-8452.

As a reminder, Silver Alert is a program implemented in Suffolk County that allows local law enforcement to share information with media outlets about individuals with special needs who have been reported missing.
