Please join us on Sunday January 14, 2000 at 2pm for a Trout Birthday party. The staff has been very busy standing in the cold water, with the wind blowing in their faces and their hands freezing. They are performing the one-hundred-year-old process of egg stripping. Their hard work has been well worth the effort and we hope you join us to see the results. Our sac-fry will be in a tank in the Fairchild Building so you can view these tiny creatures with their little yolk sacs. Come and celebrate with us and Dawn of Day.

Dawn of Day--Cold Harbor Spring Fish Hatchery --invites you to enter their first Trout Birthday Card Contest!
The author/artist whose card is judged to be best will win a $50 prize to be presented at the child's school. The top 10 cards will be displayed at the Fish Hatchery and online on the Dawn of Day Website.
Rules: There are none, be as creative as you wish. Card size should be 6 X 9 or smaller. Contest is open to young people of any age who want to participate. Cards can be big or small, made of any material, poetry or prose, color or black-and-white; but only one card per person. Mailed entries must be postmarked by February 28, 2001, and sent to Dawn of Day, 73 Ireland Pl. PMB 201, Amityville, NY 11701, phone 631-225-5513. Online entries must be submitted at www.DawnofDay.com by midnight on February 28, 2001. All entries become property of Dawn of Day Children's Publishing Co., Inc. and The Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery. Winner will be selected by the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery.

The contest supports the Fish Hatchery and Dawn of Day's forthcoming book Seahorses Down Under! by 14-year-old Australian Julia Lee. Seahorses Down Under! is the first scheduled book in the Animal Kingdom series, and is due out in Spring 2001. The entire series will be written by young authors.
