Dear Long Islander,

Christmas is right around the corner - there are only 4 days of anticipation left before Santa makes his trip around the world, and it looks like Long Island is ready. Across Long Island, families have decked the halls, and you can certainly feel the Christmas Spirit in the air. As you prepare to celebrate Christmas this season, you may want to take a moment to support the Newtown Community, who experienced one of the worst school shootings in history at Sandy Hook Elementary just last week. As we come together to spend time with family and friends this holiday, take a moment to remember those who were effected by this tragedy, and honor them - countless people around the world are taking part in what is being called "26 Acts" - performing 26 random acts of kindness before the end of the year, in memory of the students & staff of Sandy Hook Elementary, and to bring a bit more joy back into the world. No matter how you're celebrating this season, the LongIsland.com Team wishes you a very Merry Christmas.
