"Dense Fog Advisory" ...Dense fog advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening... * locations...Queens...Nassau...and Suffolk counties. * Hazards...dense fog. * Visibilities...one quarter mile or less at times. * Timing...through 700 PM EST this evening. * Impacts...reduced visibilities...making travel hazardous. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be reduced to one quarter mile or less. If driving...slow down...use your low beam headlights...and leave plenty of distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed. , "Special Statement" ...Widespread fog...locally dense at times...through this afternoon across Long Island... Fog will continue across Long Island through this afternoon and possibly into early this evening. Visibilities will be frequently 1/2 to 1 1/2 statute miles...and at times a quarter mile or less...especially along the South Shore of Long Island. Visibilities will improve with a wind shift to the southwest late this afternoon into early this evening. Motorists should be on the look out for rapidly changing visibilities.
